On Thursdays, Nov. 14 and 21, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., an English Language Learning (ELL) class will be held at Community REACH, with Albert Storm instructing. The class will focus on learning the English language in small group and individual formats.
On Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon, UPMC Memorial will share information about employment opportunities at UPMC. The event will have a walk-in format, and no registration is required.
Computers and Technology for Beginners will be presented on Nov. 14 from 3 to 4 p.m. The instructor will be Sam Neff. Additionally, Stepheni Anderson will present the class on Nov. 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. Computers will be provided. Parking is available across the street from the Ruth Ann Young Center at 15 First Ave., Red Lion.
Essential Skills for Employment will be presented on Friday, Nov. 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. The instructors will be Gerry Mentz, director of student services, and Dylan Maxwell, career services coordinator, Adult and Continuing Education Center, York County School of Technology (YCST). Parking is available across the street from the Ruth Ann Young Center.
On Monday, Nov. 18, Sherrie Horton from Wells Fargo will present Let's Talk Credit. Attendees will learn how credit works as it relates to them.
Community REACH will partner with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to offer ServSafe Food Safety Training for Food Banking on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from noon to 2 p.m. This training, released by Feeding America and the National Restaurant Association, is intended for food pantries. There will be a test at the end of the class, and a minimum score of 75% is needed to pass. A certificate of completion will be issued to anyone who passes; the certificates do not expire. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank will pay for one individual from an organization to complete the training. Community REACH will cover the cost of the training for additional members of the same organization. Registration is required by Nov. 18.
Stess-Relieving Techniques will be instructed by Beth Miller, licensed practical nurse and home health liaison with OSS Health at Home, on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 1 to 2 p.m.
Essential Skills for Employment will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, from 10 to 11 a.m. Deb March, human resources specialist for OSS Health, will be the instructor.
Sherrie Horton will present Digital Workshop on Monday, Nov. 25. Attendees will learn about banking in the digital world.
Community Progress Council, a partner of United Way, will offer a free Ready to Rent workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to noon at Community REACH. Topics will include affordability, searching for a safe and affordable apartment, subsidized and affordable housing options, pre-inspections, understanding the lease, moving in, landlord and tenant responsibilities, fair housing, avoiding eviction, and moving out.
