Community REACH, located in the Ruthann Young Center at 15 First Ave., Red Lion, will host Dessert and Details, an open house to introduce its new educational programs, on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. All are welcome.
Attendees will be able to talk to individuals and companies that have partnered with Community REACH to provide classes for guests in the Dallastown, Eastern York, and Red Lion Area school districts. Tours of the facility will also be available. Desserts are being donated by Sugar Rose Bakery.
Examples of classes offered are Managing My Money, Food and Nutrition, Naturalization and Citizenship, GED, Credit Health Check, Employment Skills, and Computers and Technology for Beginners. Local employers like Kinsley Construction and Encore will assist with applications for employment. Educational centers such as HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, hold enrollment opportunity sessions.
The open house will give a small example of what is in store in the coming months, including upcoming classes as Community REACH expands into surrounding areas by providing education and resources for all.
The educational opportunities are all free thanks to a grant from the Department of Education and will be offered at Community REACH's Red Lion location. Additional class information can be found under the Education tab at http://www.commreach.org.
Community REACH was established in 1974 to provide basic items and programs of support including a choice food pantry, school supplies, cold weather gear, a children's backpack program, and holiday giving. The role of staff members and volunteers is to resource, educate, advocate, connect, and assist their clients and the community.
