Concert, Bazaar Posted

Lancaster Church of the Brethren (COB), 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, will be the site of two events on Saturday, Nov. 13. The church asks those attending indoor events to wear masks.

Fourteen area musicians will play a variety of sacred and classical music on pipe organ, piano, and harpsichord at 7 p.m. Jointly sponsored by the American Guild of Organists (AGO), the "Keyboard Connections" concert is part of the church's Starlight Tea series. It will feature duos and trios from both seasoned and rising musicians on organ, piano, and harpsichord.

Guild organists will perform segments of Saint-Saëns' "Carnival of the Animals" on two grand pianos and organ, J.S. Bach's Concerto for Three Harpsichords, and other masterworks by Haydn, Poulenc, Guilmant, Ravel, Wagner, Gounod, and others.

Local AGO members scheduled to perform include Lancaster COB organist Margaret Marsch, Patricia Bleecker, Frank Dodd, Ross Ellison, Greg Gehman, John and Lisa Huber, Jonathan Humbert, Kyle Postlethwait, and John Zielinski. Former and present AGO scholarship recipients Johnny Adkins, Peter Hasse, Genevieve Hash, and Faith Martin also will play.

The concert is free, but an offering will be received to support the Guild's Scholarship Fund.

The church's holiday craft bazaar will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church family life center.

Vendors will offer a variety of handmade items, including Christmas ornaments and decorations, such as paper mâche snowmen and trees; handcrafted jewelry, including steampunk and altered art jewelry; and kitchen items like towels, dish cloths, potholders, and scrubbies. The bazaar will also feature plenty of needlework, including knitted, crocheted, and sewn items such as hand-woven scarves, felted bowls, children's play kits, market bags, and other creations. Other vendor items will be fleece blankets, handmade soaps, paintings, lathe work, stocking stuffers, gift baskets, gift sets, and gift bags.

Food and drinks will be available for breakfast and lunch. Proceeds from food sales and vendor registration fees will benefit the Lancaster County Food Hub.
