Conservancy Plans Events

The third annual Walk in Penn's Woods in Halifax on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. will be a free, guided, 1.5-mile walk at the Ibberson Conservation Area (East) in Powell's Valley. Nature will be observed with field expert Ian Gardner and forester Andy Brought. Participants are asked to wear sturdy shoes for uneven terrain, and this walk is not wheelchair- or stroller-friendly. No pets will be allowed. The event is co-sponsored by the Dauphin County Woodland Owners Association. The registration deadline is Thursday, Oct. 3. "Stream Water Quality in a Changing Climate" will be a program offered at the South Hanover Township Building, 161 Patriot Way, Hershey, on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 7 to 8 p.m. This presentation will introduce concerned citizens to threats to water quality and solutions in the context of watershed science. It will feature Scott Ensign of the Stroud Water Research Center. Registration is appreciated.
