Conservancy Slates Educational Hike

Feb 01, 2020 - 1:00 pm

Lancaster Conservancy will host a History and Headwaters Hike from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Welsh Mountain Nature Preserve, 601 Gault Road, New Holland, the largest nature preserve in Lancaster County. The event will include a discussion of the history of Welsh Mountain and the natural resources it protects and a 2-mile hike.

Attendees will go behind the scenes of this over-900-acre preserve and explore the restoration area that protects the headwaters of both the Pequea and Conestoga creeks. Hikers should wear comfortable closed-toe shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather outdoors. There are no bathrooms at Welsh Mountain Nature Preserve.

There is a cost to take part. Should there be a forecast of weather conditions that would make the hike unsafe, hikers will be notified of a cancellation and refunded 24 hours prior to the event. To register, readers may visit http://www.eventbrite.com and search for "Lancaster Conservancy."
