County Park Programs Set

Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer programs to the community. Unless otherwise noted, there is a per-person fee and registration and payment are required by noon on the business day before the event. Start Gardening will be offered to participants age 15 and older on Monday, March 7, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Environmental Center, 1 Nature's Way, Lancaster. They will learn how to plant a garden and learn about companion and competing plants. Attendees will start seeds that they can plant in their garden.

Munchkin Science: Maple Sugar will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, March 8, at Pavilion 11, 733 Williamson Road, Lancaster. Children ages 3 to 5 will learn the steps of turning sugar maple sap into maple syrup and maple candy. They will also learn about the history of early maple sugaring.

Homeschool Wednesday: Trees and Woodland Birds will be offered to students ages 8 to 12 on Wednesday, March 9, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Exhibit Farmhouse, 2 Exhibit Farm Road, Lancaster. Participants will take a walk along Mill Creek to look for and listen to birds and examine trees. Children should dress for outdoor activity. Children under age 8 may attend if accompanying older siblings.

Jump Into STEM: Seeds and Spring Critters will be offered on Thursday, March 10, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Environmental Center. Children ages 3 to 5 will learn about seeds and the local animals that eat them. Participants will also create animal art using seeds.

TNT Science: Earth Day Project, for youths ages 11 to 17, has been set for Tuesday, March 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Environmental Center. The details of the project were be announced at the first meeting of TNT Science on March 1. Parents may drop off children but must first see naturalist Ann Strauss to sign a release waiver.
