Couple To Support K9 Veterans

Tyler and Georgie Harner, a husband-and-wife team from Hershey, will participate in the David Goggins 4x4x48 Challenge from Friday to Sunday, March 5 to 7. This exercise challenge encourages participants to run 4 miles every four hours for 48 hours. As part of their participation, the Harners will support Paws of Honor by raising funds and awareness for K9 veterans. They will also incorporate their children, Mason, 7, and Cole, 4, into some of the event's activities.

The Harners said they chose to aid Paws of Honor due to their love of dogs and their appreciation for veterans, both human and canine. Georgie and Tyler have described their family as a "dog family," and they consider their canine pets to be members of their family. Additionally, National K9 Veterans Day will occur on Saturday, March 13. This annual tribute honors and remembers the service and sacrifices of America's military working dogs, as well as the numerous canines that serve with law enforcement, border patrol and other agencies. The Harners also appreciate human veterans, as most of Georgie's and Tyler's grandfathers were World War II veterans.

In connection with the fundraiser, Paws of Honor recently recognized first responders and teachers for their ongoing service during the pandemic. Georgie is a substitute school teacher and stay-at-home mom who previously taught for approximately 10 years at Harrisburg and Central Dauphin school districts. Tyler is a career firefighter working in Frederick, Md.
