Galas are known as dressy events where attendees enjoy delectable food and relaxed conversation in lovely surroundings. The 2019 CrossNet Garden Gala will have all that, plus a silent auction. "We have some amazing packages and items to bid on," said Meredith Dahl, director of CrossNet Ministries.
The fourth annual CrossNet Garden Gala will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the Legacy Gardens at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland. "The gala is a special event because it is held outside in the fall in the beautiful gardens at Garden Spot Village," said Dahl. "There is no program for guests. They are able to come and enjoy good food, music, and fellowship with friends."
To entice guests to bid on silent auction items, organizers have gathered a variety of offerings, including hot air balloon ride tickets, a YETI cooler, a sign painting party with Aimee Weaver, a weekly bouquet of flowers for 13 weeks, a private movie screening for 75 people, massage gift certificates, tickets for an escape room experience, and a Lancaster outing package including dinner and a show.
As in the past, attendees will be able to visit the food stations, which will lead to a large tent where beverages and desserts will be found. The menu for the gala was chosen by event coordinator Allison Cuthie from a selection offered by Garden Spot Village in partnership with another food provider. The 2019 menu will be similar to previous galas, with an "around-the-world" selection of small plates, interactive desserts, and fizzy nonalcoholic beverages, as well as coffees and teas.
Organizers have also arranged for attendees to enjoy live music provided by a jazz pianist from the Louis Pettinelli Jazz Group of Philadelphia.
Recommended dress for the evening is "date-night attire," which Dahl explained is not full-on formal. "You can dress up, but you don't have to go all out," she noted. Local photographer Amy Marburger will be on-site to take free photos for attendees. "Get a nice picture of yourself and your date or you and your friends," Dahl encouraged.
To keep the event relaxed for guests, there is no formal program. Dahl will give a short speech to express appreciation to attendees. CrossNet Ministries offers a variety of programs to the community, including a youth center, social services programs, Power Packs, a nutrition center, a summer lunch program, after-school programs for elementary-age students, and more. The ministry currently operates from three locations on Franklin Street in New Holland.
Funds raised by the gala are derived from ticket sales and sponsorships. Garden Gala organizers hope to raise $55,000 for the ministry's general fund.
The gala will be held rain or shine. Tickets are limited. For tickets and details, readers may call 717-355-2454 or visit http://www.elancocross.org.
