CV Plans Homecoming Celebration

On Friday, Oct. 15, Conestoga Valley High School (CVHS) will hold its annual homecoming celebration. The 2021 homecoming queen will be crowned during halftime of the varsity football game against Manheim Central High School, which will begin at 7 p.m. at the school stadium, 2110 Horseshoe Road, Lancaster.

Francesca Satiro, who was a member of the 2020 homecoming court, will crown the 2021 queen at the conclusion of the ceremony.

The eight 2021 homecoming queen candidates are Kailey Anderson, Annika Bredeman, Cate Chadwick, Casey Kaufhold, Riley Kiel, Delainey Varela-Keen, Jenna Rychener, and Megan Rychener. All candidates will be escorted to the game by their parents.

Kailey Anderson is the daughter of David Knapik of Brownstown and Kari Lonie of Brownstown. At school, she is a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Women's Liberation Alliance, Power Club, and the Conestoga Valley dance team. She is also the manager of the basketball team. Outside school, she completes volunteer work at Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Following graduation, she plans to attend college with the goal of earning her doctorate degree.

Annika Bredeman is the daughter of Justin and Sally Bredeman of Lancaster. At school, she is vice president of the Class of 2022, president of Science National Honor Society (SNHS), and a member of National Honor Society (NHS) and SADD. She runs cross -country and plays lacrosse. Outside school, she is involved in youth group at Keystone Church, and she volunteers at Conestoga Valley Christian Community Services and Smoketown Elementary School. Following graduation, she plans to attend college to major in biology with a pre-med focus.

Cate Chadwick is the daughter of Mike and Beth Chadwick of East Lampeter. At school, she is secretary of SADD and a member of Student Council, NHS, and SNHS. Cate also participates with the television studio. Outside school, she takes dance classes. Following graduation, she plans to attend college.

Casey Kaufhold is the daughter of Rob and Carole Kaufhold of Lancaster. At school, she is a member of SADD. Outside school, she was a member of the 2021 U.S. Olympic Archery Team that competed in Tokyo, Japan. Following graduation, she hopes to attend Texas A&M University to major in creative business and visualizations.

Riley Kiel is the daughter of Brad and Barb Kiel of Brownstown. At school, she is an officer in the orchestra and a member of NHS, SADD, and FOCUS. Outside school, she is active with the First Presbyterian Church youth group and dances at Encore Dance Center. Following graduation, she plans to attend Penn State University to study sales and marketing.

Jenna Rychener is the daughter of Ken and Kristen Rychener of Brownstown. At school, she is a member of NHS, concert choir, the drama department, Tri-M Music Honor Society, FOCUS, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). She serves as captain of the varsity girls' tennis team. Outside school, she is a member of Blossom Hill Mennonite Church youth group, takes voice lessons, and volunteers to restock the free pantry at Bucher Elementary School and serve meals at East Chestnut Mennonite Church. Following graduation, she plans to attend college to major in psychology.

Megan Rychener is the daughter of Ken and Kristen Rychener of Brownstown. At school, she is a member of NHS, SNHS, FOCUS, and FCA. She serves as captain of the varsity tennis team. Outside school, she is a youth group member at Blossom Hill Mennonite Church, and she volunteers to restock the free pantry at Bucher Elementary School and serve meals at East Chestnut Mennonite Church. Following graduation, she plans to attend a university with the goal of entering the field of pediatric oncology.

Delainey Varela-Keen is the daughter of Federico and Kristin Varela-Keen of Lancaster. At school, she is vice president of Student Council, secretary of SNHS, and a member of NHS and Power Club. She also plays varsity girls' soccer. Outside school, she plays club soccer for Keystone Football Club in Mechanicsburg. Following graduation, she is committed to playing Division I soccer at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and she plans to attend medical school to become an anesthesiologist.
