Dayspring Christian Academy, 120 College Ave., Mountville, will host an all-school open house on Thursday, March 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. Families will be able to tour the school and visit with teachers.
Founded in 1987, Dayspring Christian Academy is a preschool to grade 12 classical, Christian school. It teaches students using the Principle Approach and is one of five model demonstration schools in the U.S. The school's goal is to equip students to acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ and develop a biblical worldview. Through the classical method of education, students work to develop excellence in character and academics. Inherent in the Principle Approach is the restoration of America's biblical foundation.
Extracurricular activities include Lower School and Upper School sports and opportunities to participate in all of McCaskey High School's sports. Classes and clubs offer opportunities in STEM, music, art, athletics and more. Students learn to play the ukulele in fourth grade and the violin in fifth grade. The school also offers in-depth field study experiences, including time in Plymouth, Mass., to study the Pilgrims; Boston to study America's founding; Gettysburg; the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter in Kentucky; and Washington, D.C. As a culmination to the Principle Approach education, seniors travel to Israel for a nearly two-week field study.
