The Dauphin County Woodland Owners Association (DCWOA) will host its 10th annual conference, "Promoting Healthy Forests for the Future," on Saturday, March 12. The conference will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Dauphin County Agriculture and Natural Resources Center, 1451 Peters Mountain Road, Dauphin.
The conference is designed to provide private forest landowners with forest management strategies to promote sustainable forestry. Topics will include pests and disease, timber management, invasive species control, timber stand improvement, and habitat management for wildlife and forest health issues. Speakers will include professional foresters, plant pathologists, botanists, entomologists, wildlife biologists, and forest land managers.
The conference is free and open to the public. Preregistration is requested to assist with conference planning. Conference registration includes morning refreshments. Lunch is also available for a nominal fee, which will be collected during morning registration. The DCWOA is a nonprofit organization interested in sustainable woodland management practices that encourage the diverse use of forests for timber production, wildlife habitat, watershed protection, and recreation. The DCWOA provides education and technical assistance.
