ELANCO Dementia Friendly Community (DFC) recently joined Dementia Friendly America (DFA), rebranding the local grassroots nonprofit organization to Dementia Friendly Lancaster County.
One of the initial objectives of Dementia Friendly Lancaster County is to increase the number of people who are Dementia Friends.
Crystal Yunginger, the Dementia Friendly coordinator for Lancaster County, will host a virtual Dementia Friends information session on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. She invites all Lancaster County residents to join the virtual event to learn more about dementia and helping local people who have this condition.
Dementia Friends is an initiative to change people's perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way people think, talk and act regarding the disease. Attendees of the information session will learn about dementia and the small ways they can help, such as telling friends about the Dementia Friends program or visiting someone they know who has dementia. Attendees will become Dementia Friends by attending the session.
Having volunteered to be a Dementia Friends Champion, Yunginger is now delivering Dementia Friends sessions to people across Lancaster County.
Anyone interested in attending the information session may register at http://www.dementiafriendspa.org/dementia-friends-information-session. Anyone interested in additional information may contact Yunginger at 717-487-6223.
