Discussion To Focus On Human-Made Space

Feb 19, 2019 - 7:00 pm

The Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society will host a roundtable discussion, "Why We Build," at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at East Chestnut Street Mennonite Church, 32 E. Chestnut St., Lancaster.

Participating will be Jesse Pellman, Longview Structures; Mary Haverstick, filmmaker; Randy Harris, historian; Dale Yoder, architect; and Shawn Buckwalter, EG Stoltzfus. Chad Martin, director at Partners for Sacred Spaces, will moderate the discussion.

The discussion will focus on human-made space, or "built environment," which includes urban, suburban, and rural areas, in contrast to the natural environment. Attendees will learn how the structures around people can influence what they do, how they think, and what they find important.

Attendance is by donation.
