On May 15, Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) held its annual Athlete Recognition Day, a celebration for EAHS athletes who plan to continue their sports careers at the collegiate level. Joining the athletes during the celebration were their families, teammates, coaches, faculty members, and administrators.
Each athlete was introduced in the high school auditorium during the program. As part of the program, the nine honorees were saluted by their coaches for their contributions. The coaches read off each student-athlete's accolades and wished him or her success at the next level. The list of accomplishments included common themes for all, such as Lancaster-Lebanon League all-stars, team captains, and MVPs, as well as leadership qualities and academic accolades.
The recognized students were as follows: Alexander Diahn, football, Shippensburg University; Jonathan Gartley, soccer, Penn State - Harrisburg; Emily Louie, tennis, York College; Julia Rathsam, volleyball, Penn State - Berks; Bradley Ruth, bowling, Penn State - Berks; Catherine Shontz, cross-country and track, Temple University; Dylan Sweger, football, Juniata College; Elizabeth Vuxta, volleyball, Wilson College; and Julee Wells, cross-country and track, Hood College.
