EAMS Holds Spelling Bee

Elizabethtown Area Middle School (EAMS) recently held its 2020 spelling bee. The winner of the bee was seventh-grader Owen Wagner, who took home the victory by correctly spelling the word "campaign."

Eighth-grader Alexis Cook placed second. Wagner and Cook will attempt to qualify for the regional spelling bee to be held this spring. To qualify, the students will take a written test later in February.

The school bee was open to students in grades six through eight and was based on grade-level words determined by the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Other participants included eighth-graders Catherine Datorre, Caleb Garcia, Zachary Hershey, Michael McNaughton, Allie Norman, Joseph Rogers, Josie Spayd, and Jillian Wivell; seventh-graders Noah Breneman, Cameron Brosey, and Natalie Rodriguez; and sixth-graders Audra Kuntz, Kristal Santiago, and Kella Ulrich.
