Earth Day Celebration Set

Apr 23, 2022 - 10:00 am

The community is invited to celebrate Earth Day at Bondsville Mill Park, 1647 Bondsville Road, Downingtown, on Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature the grand opening of the Bondsville Mill Park Resource Library. Both a lending and reference library, it will include more than 469 books on nature, photography and related subjects.

The Chester County Beekeepers Association, which maintains three honeybee hives at the mill, will provide information to the public about the role of honeybees in nature and agriculture. The hives will be used to demonstrate the art and science of beekeeping, including effective techniques and coping with problems and challenges.

The day will also include a tree scavenger hunt and educational programs about butterflies, birds and native bees. Members of Restore Our Roots will be on hand. The group recently helped with clearing debris at the park in preparation for the building of an outdoor amphitheater.
