The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer in-person browsing and a variety of virtual programs to the community.
Face masks that cover the mouth and nose are required for entry to the library for everyone over age 2. There is currently no seating for quiet study, research, reading, or meetings, and public access computers are currently not available. Individuals who are unable to wear a mask may utilize the no-contact self pickup service as an alternative. For more details or to arrange for pickup, readers may call 717-354-0525.
The library will offer Take and Makes during March. The final day to register is Sunday, March 7, at 11:59 p.m. Pickup for Take and Makes will be held once per month, and items must be picked up by Saturday, March 13, at 4 p.m. Three programs will be offered: Toddler Story Time care packages for children ages 1 to 3, Preschool Story Time care packages for children ages 3 to 6, and STEM on the GO! for students in kindergarten and older. No-contact self pickup is available by contacting Ms. Carla at cbarrows@elancolibrary.org.
Animal Crossing with Ms. Carla will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Mondays on Facebook Live and is designed for children age 10 and older.
Two story time programs will be offered. Preschool Story Time will be held on Tuesdays for children ages 3 to 6, and Toddler Thursdays will be on Thursdays for children ages 1 to 3. Both programs will start at 10:30 a.m. on the library's Facebook page.
Dungeons and Dragons Club, open to youths ages 10 to 19, will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays, March 4 and 18, via Zoom. Beginners are welcome and should contact cbarrows@elancolibrary.org if they need help with building a character sheet. Readers should contact cbarrows@elancolibrary.org to register.
Hooks and Needles Craft Club will gather via Zoom on Monday, March 8, at 6:30 p.m. Interested readers may contact hsmith@elancolibrary.org for the Zoom invitation.
Book Talk Wednesday will take place on Wednesdays, March 10 and 24, at noon. Ms. Carla will feature new books and talk about them. Videos will be uploaded on the first and third Wednesdays of the month on Facebook and the library's YouTube channel.
Star Trek Trivia will take place on Thursday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. Family members of all ages may test their knowledge and have fun. The livestream will be available on the library's Facebook page.
The Garden Spot Village Kids Run will step off at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 26. Garden Spot Village and ELANCO Public Library have teamed up to promote healthy lifestyles for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Children can not only benefit from the activity and training, but they will also get to experience the thrill of a race start and finish, coming down through the same finisher's chute that the runners will use the following day with cheering crowds, medals and all.
