Story time programs will be offered to young children and will feature a variety of activities while building language and literacy skills. Preschool Story Time will be offered on Tuesdays for children ages 3 to 6. Toddler Thursdays will be held on Thursdays for children ages 1 to 3, and parents are expected to participate. Both programs will begin at 10:30 a.m. Siblings are welcome to attend.
Teen Tuesdays will be held on Tuesdays from 3 to 5 p.m. for students in grades six to 12. Attendees will enjoy books, snacks, and Wi-Fi.
Friends of the ELANCO Library will host a spring book sale from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 13, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. The sale will feature new and like-new books and a wide selection of used books. Proceeds will benefit the ELANCO Library.
Explore STEM Careers: Tree Science will be offered on Saturday, May 7, at 3 p.m. Participants will learn how scientists identify trees, evaluate forest health, and protect Pennsylvania's forests. The program is part of the Longwood Gardens Community Read Program, and participants will have the chance to win four free passes to Longwood Gardens.
STEM Saturday will take place on Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families are welcome to drop in to the Children's Library to enjoy fun STEM activities.
Lego Creation Club will gather at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 26. Attendees will build themed creations out of Lego bricks that will be displayed in the library.
The Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion for adults will meet at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 2. Participants will discuss "The Lions of Fifth Avenue: A Novel" by Fiona Davis.
Hooks and Needles, a yarn craft club, will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 9. Individuals who knit or crochet will gather to work on a project and talk shop with others. Beginners are welcome to attend.
Homeschool Curriculum and Book Swap will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20. Homeschooling families are invited to bring books to give away, collect new educational materials for free, and connect with other home educators. This is a completely free exchange, without strings attached. Materials are contributed without condition, and people may take materials without charge or condition on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tech Tips for Seniors will be offered at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 21. Seniors are invited to bring their cellphone, tablet, or laptop to receive assistance and/or learn how to use Libby to get free ebooks and eAudiobooks with a library card.
Buckhill Sleuths' Book Discussion will get together at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 23. Attendees will discuss "The Lions of Fifth Avenue: A Novel" by Fiona Davis.
Paulette Moore's photography and handmade cards will be on display through Tuesday, May 31. Her handcrafted greeting cards and 14 different photographs will be available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the library.
Park City Diner, 884 Plaza Blvd., Lancaster, and Knight and Day Diner, 3140 Lititz Pike, Lititz, will donate 10% of what diners spend for a meal to the library. When checking out, patrons should tell the cashier they would like to donate their sale to the ELANCO Library.
