Colton Esbin of Conestoga was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in Boy Scouts, at his Court of Honor held on Feb. 29. Colton, 18, is the son of Jeff and Wendy Esbin.
Colton has been a Scout since he was 6 years old. As a Cub Scout with Pack 101 at Martic Elementary School in Holtwood, he earned the Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouting. As a Boy Scout with Troop 2 in Holtwood, he was quartermaster for three years and chaplain and historian for one year. His peers elected him to the Order of the Arrow, the national honor society of the Boy Scouts of America. Colton advanced from an Ordeal Member to a Brotherhood Member in the Order of the Arrow.
For his Eagle Scout Project, Colton built a 12-by-12-foot stone patio and a stone firepit measuring 6 feet in diameter for New Danville Mennonite Church. The patio and firepit were designed to be maintenance free. The project included excavating the site and building the patio and firepit.
Colton will graduate from Penn Manor High School this spring. He enjoys science, technology, and playing the trumpet in the high school band. Colton plans to attend Millersville University to major in technology and engineering secondary education.
