Exhibit Exploring Homelessness Opens

Jul 11, 2019 -

Creative York has announced that Carrie Breschi's installation exhibit "Home Sweet Home: The Real Face of Homelessness" is on display in The Project Space Gallery, 10 N. Beaver St., York.

Breschi's creative process lies at the intersection between art and social engagement and their ability to come together as one movement. In the 2-D and 3-D installation "Home Sweet Home," the artist explores the real face of homelessness and community misconceptions surrounding those who struggle to find shelter. Breschi also seeks to dissolve public and private perceptions of the way a gallery should act and look and to transform the space into a deeply meaningful educational experience.

Breschi holds a Bachelor of Arts in studio art and English from Denison University and a Master of Arts in social engagement through the arts from Moore College of Art & Design. A past executive director of the Carlisle Arts Learning Center, she currently consults with nonprofit organizations to cultivate and to encourage connectivity, collaboration, shared resources and the cultivation of change through the creative process.

Running concurrently with "Home Sweet Home" is Creative York's "2019 Members' Exhibit" in the Kerlin Gallery. An opening reception for both exhibits was scheduled to be held on July 11. The two exhibits will continue through Saturday, Aug. 10, with gallery hours on Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission to the galleries is always free.

Creative York is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the arts as a central part of the community through its outreach programs, arts education, and free art gallery exhibits. Creative York operates two art galleries, art classes for people of all ages, and ceramics studios. For more information, readers may call 717-848-3200 or visit http://www.creativeyork.org.
