Fair Premium Books Now Available

The Elizabethtown Fair has announced that premium books for the 48th annual Elizabethtown Fair are available at Brandt's Farm Supply, Elizabethtown Borough Office, Groff's Meats, White Oak Mills, Winters Heritage House Museum, B & G Lumber, Messicks, J.B. Hostetter and Sons and the Country Store. These books include information on livestock and competitive exhibits as well as children's and adult contests. Some of the entries have early deadlines. This year's Elizabethtown Fair premium book cover features "Li'l Pumpkins," a painting that was created and donated to the fair by longtime area resident Nancy Landis. The original artwork will be auctioned off at the annual Elizabethtown Fair Auction on Friday, Aug. 27, at approximately 9 p.m.

The 48th annual fair will run from Monday to Saturday, Aug. 23 through 28. Area FFA members, 4-H members, and others will show their dairy and beef cattle, sheep, swine, goats, and rabbits during competitive judging held throughout the week. Residents of all ages are encouraged to enter their crafts, needlework, baked goods, produce, and plants in the competitive exhibits; judging is held at the Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, located at 996 E. High St., adjacent to the fairgrounds. Needlecraft (Department 18) and Art, Photography and Crafts (Department 19) entries will be received at the church fellowship hall on Saturday, Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. All other entries will be received on Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For additional information on these entries, call Linda McKinne at 717-653-8782 or visit the aforementioned website.
