Fall Blast 5K To Benefit Bench Mark Program

In celebration of Physical Therapy Month, HARTZ Physical Therapy (PT) will host the 18th annual Fall Blast 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, Oct. 2. All proceeds of this year's event will benefit Bench Mark Program, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. In 2020, organizers presented a check for $23,000 to Off the Streets Lancaster, last year's beneficiary.

This year's event will begin at 9 a.m. at Bonfield Elementary School, 101 N. Oak St., Lititz. Participants will travel the surrounding neighborhoods, as well as the paved Warwick trail. The event will be family-friendly and include arts and crafts, music and a Kid's Fun Run, which will take place immediately following the conclusion of the 5K.

Online registration is available at http://www.hartzpt.com by clicking on "Fall Blast 5K" under "Community." Those who preregister by Friday, Sept. 24, will receive a discount, and participants are also encouraged to register with a team of five or more people to take advantage of a discounted registration fee. Registrations will also be accepted on the morning of the race.

All pregistered 5K participants will receive a long-sleeve soft style T-shirt, as well as a goodie bag. Cash prizes will be awarded following the race, as well as age bracket awards. The fun run registration fee will include a kid-size T-shirt.

Those who would like to participate but are unable to do so in person may sign up for the Blast from Home option, which allows registrants to run or walk at a time and place of their choosing. Blast from Home registrants will receive a T-shirt and race bag.

Bench Mark Program, a charity based in Lancaster city, seeks to create positive gym spaces where underserved youths can feel safe, understood and empowered. Through physical exercise, academic counseling and career coaching, Bench Mark Program offers a support network on which students can rely for the rest of their lives. The Fall Blast is organized by the HARTZ Physical Therapy Charitable Organization, which represents the charitable arm of the physical therapy company. As a Lancaster County-based, family-owned business, HARTZ PT is committed to giving back to the Lancaster community and has raised more than $250,000 for various local charities through the Fall Blast and other charitable initiatives over the past 20 years.
