Penn State Extension Dauphin County will offer the FarmSense Farm Financial and Production Management workshop series from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 18, Feb. 25, March 3 and March 10. The program will take place at the Penn State Extension Dauphin County Office, 1451 Peters Mountain Road, Dauphin. Business owners, agricultural producers, and entrepreneurs are invited to attend the series, which is an introduction to managing the finances of agricultural businesses.
Penn State University Extension educator John P. Wodehouse will share information about cash flow statements, balance sheets, income statements, and financial analytics. Course participants will learn how to use their financial records to calculate benchmarks and make informed managerial decisions for their business. They will also learn to build custom farm financial statements.
Representatives of any agricultural businesses are welcome to attend, including those related to livestock, dairy, horticulture, nurseries, orchards, greenhouses, and vegetable production. Class participants will receive one-on-one business training.
FarmSense meets all USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Borrower Training requirements for both production and financial modules. Additionally, FarmSense qualifies for four Smart-Start credits from AgChoice Farm Credit.
A registration fee has been set for individuals, with an additional fee for each participate from the same business. The fee includes all course materials, a textbook, hands-on assistance from agribusiness instructors and a catered lunch each day.
