Foundation Awards Grant

The United Health Foundation has awarded the Pennsylvania Foundation for Home Care and Hospice a $750,000 grant to support home-based care providers and workers in responding to COVID-19 in Pennsylvania. The recipient organization will utilize the grant to purchase and distribute personal protective equipment (PPE) to home-based care providers across Pennsylvania, with priority focus on those communities most impacted by COVID-19.

A portion of the grant will also be used to develop and share free, online training videos for direct care workers. The videos, which will relate to providing care and best practices during the COVID-19 emergency, will be shared through the Pennsylvania Homecare Association's free online training portal, My Learning Center, which offers more than 60 complimentary online courses for caregivers. The portal can be found at https://learningcenter.pahomecare.org/.

The United Health Foundation was created by UnitedHealth Group, which has committed nearly $75 million to fight COVID-19 and support impacted communities, including health care workers, hard-hit states and localities, seniors, and those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.

The Pennsylvania Homecare Association is a statewide membership organization of more than 700 home care, home health and hospice providers. To learn more, readers may visit http://www.pahomecare.org.
