York County Community Foundation (YCCF) invested $6.7 million in the York County community by awarding grants to 375 nonprofits in 2019. This total reflects grants from YCCF's Fund for York County, the Hahn Home Fund for Embracing Aging, Memorial Health Fund, and the rest of the 575 funds housed at the foundation.
More than 1,100 grants were awarded to support York County charities to improve people's lives and build a vibrant community. Volunteer committees and foundation staff use community plans, research, and the intentions of donors who have established funds at the community foundation to evaluate and develop grant applications.
In 2019, donors gave $5.3 million to YCCF to support causes they care about in the community. This started 14 new funds to provide that support in perpetuity. Gifts made to YCCF are endowed, which means that they are invested to grow over time and create an impact that is exponentially greater than a one-time gift.
