Friends of Hershey Public Library will sponsor two new groups. Silent Book Group will meet at Mount Gretna Craft Brewery, 2701 Horsehole Pike, Palmyra, on Wednesdays beginning on Jan. 5 at 6:30 p.m. Attendees must be age 21 and older.
In addition, Friends is sponsoring Pencils and Pints. The writing group will gather at Troegs Brewery, 200 Hersheypark Drive, Hershey.
On Saturday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m., Evan Weiner will present "Do Athletes Protesting Social Issues Have an Impact on Society?" Weiner is a speaker and author with a radio and TV background.
"Peril on the Water - The Sultana and Black Diamond Disasters of April 1865" will be presented by Michael Jesberger at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22. Jesberger is an independent military historian who specializes in the American Revolution and Civil War time periods.
Patrons are invited to come celebrate the Lunar New Year by tuning in to Lion Dance Plus from Dance China NY. The virtual program for children will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29. This introduction to Chinese culture uses a diverse and authentic selection of dance, costumes, music, artifacts, and historical information to immerse children in the culture of China.
