Transformation Yoga Project (TYP) will offer a yoga class at Whole Foods Market, 175 N. Pottstown Pike, Exton, on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 to 10 a.m. as part of TYP's "30 for 30" campaign.
In recognition of the 30th anniversary of National Recovery Month, September, TYP is partnering with yoga studios and community spaces across the Delaware Valley to help raise money and awareness for its Trauma Sensitive Yoga for Recovery programs. TYP has created the "30 for 30" campaign to provide support for people who have been affected by substance use or mental health disorders in some way.
Founded in 2013, TYP serves people impacted by trauma, addiction, and incarceration by providing trauma-sensitive, mindfulness-based yoga programs driven by education and research. TYP is partnering with nearly 30 independent yoga studios and community spaces for 59 yoga classes to increase awareness and conversation about recovery and to raise funds to support TYP's yoga services within recovery and behavioral health settings. To date, the nonprofit has served more than 17,000 people in recovery.
Classes are open to the public and will take place during September throughout the region. No prior yoga experience is required, and donations are encouraged at any level.
