The Art Gallery at United Zion Retirement Community (UZRC), 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz, is showcasing photography from the Lancaster Camera Club in December. Two featured photographers are Don Shenk and Ines Anderson. Subjects of the photographs include Lancaster County, wildlife, people and foreign lands.
Shenk recently released two books, "Seasons of Lancaster County: Home to the World's Largest Amish Community" and "Lancaster County: A Keepsake." He said that when he is photographing, he focuses on improving his skills as well as finding more challenging images to capture. His photographs are as they are taken and not post-processed with programs like Photoshop. Shenk is from the southern Lancaster County and graduated from Penn Manor High School and Lancaster Bible College. Shenk was made Senior Fellow of the Wilmington International Exhibition of Photography in 2016.
Anderson is a traveler who has spent time in Poland, England, the United States and Thailand. She currently resides in Lititz. Although she has had an interest in photography her whole life, she has focused on it during the last three years as she traveled the U.S. Anderson photographs a range of subjects, including landscapes, nightscapes, wildlife, people and events.
The Lancaster Camera Club is a meeting place for professional and amateur photographers. The club hosts monthly meetings, along with a variety of special events, including juried competitions, photos shoots, trips, workshops and lectures.
The gallery is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the month of December.
