GEARS Plans Activities

GEARS will offer several activities. Unless otherwise noted, separate fees have been set for GEARS members and for nonmembers. Registration and details are available at http://www.getintogears.org or by calling 717-367-0355.

GEARS' 25th annual four-person scramble golf tournament, sponsored by Dr. Dale Treese D.D.S. and R.E. Pierson Material Corp., will take place on Friday, Oct. 1, at the Dauphin of Highlands Golf Course, 650 S. Harrisburg St., Harrisburg. There will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The per-person entry fee includes green fees, use of a cart, a steak dinner, and prizes. Proceeds from this event will benefit GEARS.

Canine Manners Class Level I will be held on Thursdays, Sept. 16 to Oct. 7, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Elizabethtown Fairgrounds, 900 E. High St., Elizabethtown. Teams of dogs and owners will work on basic obedience commands, problem solving, and tricks. The instructor, Deb Haldeman, has over 20 years of training experience. Attendees should bring a 6-foot, fabric or leather leash; dog treats; and proof of vaccinations. It is recommended that dogs receive the kennel cough vaccine. Handlers must be at least age 16.

Two yoga classes will be offered for people age 14 and up at the Fighting Dragons, 101 Cherry St., Elizabethtown.

Feel Good Yoga, designed for people of all fitness levels, will be held on Thursdays, Sept. 16 to Dec. 16, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. There will not be a class on Thursday, Nov. 25. Participants should bring a yoga mat and yoga block.

Chair Yoga will meet on Thursdays, Sept. 16 to Oct. 28, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The class is accessible for everyone, and movements may be done in a seated or standing position.
