GEARS' 23rd annual Two-Person Scramble Golf Tourney sponsored by Dr. Dale Treese, D.D.S., will take place on Friday, Oct. 4, at the Dauphin Highlands Golf Course, 650 S. Harrisburg St., Harrisburg. There will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The per-person entry fee includes green fees, use of a cart, a steak dinner and prizes. Proceeds from this event will benefit GEARS.
A "Ride the Rails" trip will take place on Friday, Oct. 18. Attendees will take a three-hour train excursion on the Potomac Eagle railroad. In addition to viewing the canyons of the South Branch of the Potomac River, passagers frequently see bald eagles. The bus will depart from the Elizabethtown High School parking lot, 600 E. High St., Elizabethtown, at 6:30 a.m.
A "Gettysburg Dine-Around" trip will be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Participants will visit Seminary Ridge and enjoy coffee and pastries, tour the Gettysburg Battlefield, have lunch in the Historic Dobbin House, visit the Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial, tour Hollabaugh Brothers Apple Orchard and have dessert. The bus will depart from the MoviE-town parking lot, 700 N. Hanover St., Elizabethtown, at 6 a.m.
