GEARS Publishes Brochure, Posts Activities

GEARS has released its summer 2022 brochure, detailing the wide variety of programs and activities that will be available for people of all ages in the upcoming months. GEARS members should receive a copy in their mailbox soon. All classes are also listed at http://www.getintogears.org.

To register for summer programs, visit the aforementioned website, call GEARS at 717-367-0355, send a fax to 717-367-4138, or stop by 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. People can also register by mail; for more details, call GEARS. Registration will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and some programs typically fill quickly.

The Marietta Summer Playground program will run on Mondays to Fridays, June 13 to Aug. 5, from 9 a.m. to noon at the War Memorial Park, 344 E. Walnut St., Marietta. The program will not be available on Monday, July 4. The program is designed to get children out of the house and active in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment. Summer Playground offers a wide variety of recreational activities for children, including sports, games, arts and crafts and nature activities. This program is free for residents of Marietta Borough. There is a fee for nonresidents, with a discount per additional sibling and a maximum cost per family. Restorative Yoga will be offered for people age 14 and up on Sundays, April 24 and May 15, from 3 to 4 p.m. at The Marriage Hub, 18 N. Market St., Elizabethtown. The class will be led by Charla Lorenzen, who will email the list of required and recommended props to participants after they register. There is a fee per class. Medicare Madness will take place on Thursday, April 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the senior center, 70 S. Poplar St. The program will provide an introduction to Medicare, including how and when to sign up for Medicare, what is covered by the different parts of Medicare (A, B, C and D), what the difference is between a Medicare Supplemental (Medigap) and a Medicare Advantage plan, and how to find a plan that best fits one's needs. Medicare bingo will be played. Separate fees have been set for GEARS members and for nonmembers. To register or for more information, call GEARS or visit its website.
