Various tumbling and gymnastics programs will be offered for children on Thursdays, Sept. 5 to Oct. 10, at the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. Gym Bears, for girls and boys ages 3 to 5, will be held from 5:15 to 6 p.m. (Class A) and from 6 to 6:45 p.m. (Class B) and will help develop motor skills in a fun learning environment while introducing the fundamentals of gymnastics. Additionally, a beginner class for girls and boys ages 6 to 12, set for 6:45 to 7:45 p.m., is for anyone who has not taken gymnastics and would like to learn the basic skills. An intermediate/advanced class for boys and girls ages 6 to 12, set for 7:45 to 8:45 p.m., is for older children and children who have some gymnastics experience.
Aquacise, for people age 14 and up, will be offered from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 10 to Oct. 24 at Patton Pool at Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown. Participants will move at their own pace through stretching, strengthening, endurance moves, balance building, and cardio exercises.
Deep Water Workout, for people age 14 and up, will be taught by Dave Rosensteel from 7:15 to 8 p.m. at Patton Pool on Tuesdays, Sept. 10 to Nov. 12. The class will focus on improving muscle tone, core strength, and cardio fitness using water exercise equipment. Participants should feel comfortable in the water while wearing a flotation belt.
Zumba, for people age 14 and up, will be taught by certified Zumba instructor Emily Harlan on Wednesdays, Sept. 11 to Oct. 23, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Memorial Hall gym at Masonic Village. The dance fitness class fuses musical rhythms and moves to create a workout system designed to be fun and easy.
The Strictly Skills Basketball Clinic for boys and girls in grades four through six will be offered on Tuesdays, Sept. 10 to Oct. 15, from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. at Bear Creek School, 1459 Sheaffer Road, Elizabethtown. Each clinic will incorporate a variety of basketball-specific skill stations, fun games, and game play in a 3-vs.-3 and 5-vs.-5 environment. Ball handling, shooting fundamentals, dribble moves, moving without the ball, and offensive footwork will all be stressed.
H2O Mashup, a nonstop, high-energy, low-impact aquatic workout, will be offered to people age 14 and up on Thursdays, Sept. 12 to Nov. 14, from 7:15 to 8 p.m. at Patton Pool. The class will focus on cardio and muscle endurance.
