Registration is open for the 2020-21 Girls Code Club. Girls ages 8 to 13 will learn computer science concepts and coding during the all virtual, nine-month-long program.
Each month, girls in the club will receive a prerecorded virtual lesson and then attend a live, interactive session with their instructor and peers to display their work and ask questions. Girls will build their own websites, with encouragement to be creative and make new friends.
No coding experience is necessary, and past Girls Code Club participants are welcome to participate. Each lesson will include basics for beginners and extra challenges for experienced coders.
Each registration includes eight tickets to the Lancaster Science Factory, 454 New Holland Ave., Lancaster, to encourage girls to visit with their families. Participants will also have an opportunity to receive a scholarship to a 2021 Summer STEM Camp.
There is a cost for the program per girl. A limited number of scholarships are available for families in need. For details and registration, readers may visit http://www.lancastersciencefactory.org/girlscodeclub.
