GOTR Unveils Activity Kit

Girls on the Run (GOTR) of Lancaster and Lebanon recently unveiled the Power Up Activity Kit to help keep hundreds of girls active and healthy through the summer while inspiring creativity, encouraging movement, and teaching new skills. Girls on the Run develops and delivers programs for girls at sites in every school district across Lancaster and Lebanon counties, and the organization has served more than 16,000 girls since it was founded in 2009.

After the cancellation of schools, implementation of social distancing, and the restrictions around large public events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 11-year-old nonprofit quickly altered its spring season to continue to deliver on its mission.

The at-home kit includes 50 activities to fuel a girl's mind, body and spirit and that emphasize the connection between physical and emotional health. Each activity helps girls learn important skills such as how to cope when things get difficult, demonstrate care for themselves and others, and practice positivity. From the starters to the fun movement games and challenges, the activities were designed to get girls to laugh, create, and grow.

The kit includes the Power Up activity book, a "GRL PWR" T-shirt, a physical activity training plan, a completion certificate, and more, delivered directly to the participant's doorstep.
