The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has awarded a grant of $470,076 to Rutter's Dairy in Manchester Township for the purchase and installation of new equipment at the Rutter's Dairy processing facility.
The grant will help fund the acquisition of a new N-8 paper eight-ounce filling machine to form, fill and seal eight-ounce milk cartons at a rate of 300 cartons per minute. This new equipment will increase Rutter's eight-ounce capacity by 50%, which will allow for 12,000 gallons of milk per week. These eight-ounce cartons will be sold to schools, hospitals and other institutions.
The total cost of the project is $1,121,337. Rutter's will provide $651,261 in matching funds. The CFA Dairy Investment Program funds came from a reallocation of funds from the CFA First Industries loan program. A total of $5 million was reallocated to the Dairy Investment Program as part of the enactment of the 2019-20 budget and companion Fiscal Code bill.
