Grilling Safety Tips Shared

Family cookouts are a summer tradition. While fun, cookouts present hazards, and several steps should be taken to keep everyone safe when the grill is fired up.

Children and pets should be kept away from the grill. A 3-foot child-free zone should be established around the grill.

Grills should be used outdoors only. They should be kept away from houses, deck furniture, and overhanging branches that might catch fire.

Grease or fat should be removed from the grill tray so that it does not flame up. A grill should never be left unattended. People should also remember that drinking alcohol and grilling do not mix well.
