Group Sets Program About Doc Holliday

The Mount Joy Area Historical Society will host David Manuel as a guest speaker at the organization's monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 21, at the Cemetery Road Schoolhouse, 120 Fairview St., Mount Joy.

Manuel will portray John H. Holliday to share how the historical figure became Doc Holliday, a legend of the Old West. Time will be spent examining Holliday's early life in Georgia, culminating in his move to Tombstone, Ariz., and the shootout at the O.K. Corral in 1881.

Manuel was born and raised in Columbia and now resides in Mountville. He has been a member of Toastmasters International since 1996 and is a part of the Susquehanna Speakers Association.

This program is the first installment in a two-part series. The second part will be presented on Monday, Nov. 21.

The historical society's building is open to the public every Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Community members may stop by to do research and view Mount Joy memorabilia. For more information about the historical society, visit http://www.mountjoyhistory.com.
