Guest Speaker To Discuss Textile

The Millersville Woman's Club will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 222 N. George St., Millersville.

The program will be "Molas of San Blas Islands" by Sandy Day. She will speak about molas, a handmade textile used in the traditional women's clothing of the indigenous Guna people. Her interest in molas as a fabric began with a Panama Canal cruise.

Day is a member of the Friendship Quilters of Southern Chester County, the Calico Cutters Quilt Guild, the American Quilt Group, and the Eastern Shore Quilt Study Group. She has also taught quilting for over 26 years and has been a home economics/family consumer science teacher for 32 years. Her grandmother taught her how to quilt, and she started quilting at a very early age. Day has an interest in all things fabric: clothing, quilting, and textiles.
