Partnership Brings Seminar To Pequea Valley And Solanco
According to Dan Steinman, Handi-Vangelism BASIS ministry assistant, the Help for People in Pain seminar given by Tim and Kathy Sheetz addresses any loss that significantly affects a person's life and outlook. "It's for people with different types of losses," Steinman said. "Not necessarily the loss of a spouse or a child. It could be the loss of a job ... a divorce or bankruptcy ... a (difficult) diagnosis."
Help for People in Pain will be presented at Calvary Monument Bible Church (CMBC), 1660 Mine Road, Paradise, on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program will be simulcast and livestreamed at Wesley Church, 1104 Kirkwood Pike, Quarryville, for those who would rather attend at that location.
Tim and Kathy have presented the seminar more than 200 times both in and outside the U.S., and the book they utilize will be updated for this event. "(Tim and Kathy) will offer tools to navigate through grief," said Steinman. "They will talk about the different stages of grief and different ways to personally deal with the situations, including specific sections on illnesses or the death of a spouse."
Chris Lenhart, pastor of CMBC, noted that the seminar is not just for those who are grieving. "(An attendee) may be a neighbor or a co-worker or a good friend or a family member (who is) trying to figure out a way to reach out and care for (a grieving person)."
Steinman shared that those who take the seminar often say they wish their pastor had attended one. Lenhart concurred, saying, "Pastors, ministry leaders who deal with loss, chaplains for retirement communities and hospitals ... anyone who is around people experiencing grief and loss would benefit from attending this seminar. I think they will get valuable tools." He added that he is looking forward to what he will learn.
There is a cost to attend the seminar, which will include a book and lunch at both locations for those who register at https://calvarymonument.org/journey-through-grief by Monday, Nov. 1. In-person registration on the day of the seminar may be completed at either church, but a book and lunch will not be guaranteed. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
