Healthy Kids Day Planned

Lancaster Family YMCA will host Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 27. YMCA Healthy Kids Day events are free and open to anyone in the community. The day will include family and children's activities, summer camp resources, and Safety Around Water classes for children.

Safety Around Water classes offered during Healthy Kids Days will be geared toward children who have not had previous swimming or water safety instruction and cannot jump into the water and exit on their own. These classes are offered free of cost to children through age 12, and parents will receive an assessment of their child's current skill level and needs. Advance registration for Safety Around Water classes is required.

Healthy Kids Day will take place at three locations across the county on April 27. Healthy Kids Day at Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA will take place from noon to 4 p.m., and activities will include crafts, an obstacle course, sports demonstrations, family Zumba, Fit Kids, and yoga, in addition to Safety Around Water classes from 2 to 3:45 p.m. Healthy Kids Day will be held at the YMCA at New Holland from noon to 2 p.m., and activities will include family gym time, family yoga, family Zumba, crafts, and Safety Around Water Classes from noon to 1:45 p.m.

Healthy Kids Day will also take place in Lancaster city at Musser Park from 7 to 11:30 a.m. during the Race Against Racism event, and activities will include fun crafts and games. Registration will also be available for Safety Around Water classes scheduled for Saturday, May 4, at City Center YMCA.
