Healthy Steps Program Slated

Mar 20, 2019 - 10:00 am

The York County Area Agency on Aging will offer Healthy Steps for Older Adults, an evidence-based program that aims to reduce fall risks among older adults by raising awareness about the causes of falls and how to prevent them. The two-day program, held for two hours each day, is designed to be fun, social, and validating.

Participants will learn how to exercise safely at home and be offered information on ways to improve their health and well-being. Discussions will include home and medication safety, as well as appropriate foot care/footwear.

Participants will be involved in physical skill screenings to determine their fall risk. Participants will be referred to appropriate health care professionals and community resources, as deemed necessary, to meet their needs when it comes to preventing falls.

The program will be offered at two locations with different dates. Both are open to the public. For more information, readers may contact Faye Kinard at 717-771-9610 or 800-632-9073.
