The HighHOPES Miniature Horse Challenge will take place on Saturday, June 8, at the EquiCentre for Growth and Learning, Grantville, from 9 a.m. to noon. The course is open to all children ages 8 to 12 and their parent or guardian. The course is designed to promote healthy choices, effective communication skills, problem-solving, and volunteerism using equine-assisted learning.
No horse experience is needed. Miniature horses will be provided by the Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association (CATRA). Children will experience hands-on activities, while learning proper horse handling.
The program is free of charge, but donations will benefit CATRA's equine therapy program. To register, readers may visit http://www.catra.net/miniature-horse-challenge. Additional dates in 2019 can be found on the calendar at http://www.catra.net.
