The Lower Windsor Area Historical Society will host a program on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Lower Windsor Township Community Building, 2425 Craley Road, Wrightsville.
Christopher Vera will present "Columbia, a Footprint to Freedom: A History of the Underground Railroad in Columbia." Columbia was early recognized as the birthplace of the Underground Railroad. Vera will discuss the role that Columbia played in the abolitionist movement, both because of its location and because of the people who lived in the area.
The meeting is free and open to the public. For more details, readers may call the historical society at 717-246-8735.
