History Center Posts Programs

The York County History Center will offer a variety of programs and activities to the community. The events are free and open to the public. Events will take place at the center, 250 E. The Colonial Complex, 157 W. Market St., York, will host First Friday on Oct. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. Visitors will explore the darker side of York's history and enjoy beverage tastings, s'mores, spooky stories, pumpkin painting, and more.

South Central Pennsylvania Genealogical Society will meet at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6. Stephen Smith will present "Never Built ... The Town of Pleasant Garden and Other Curiosities."

On Saturday, Oct. 12, the Second Saturday program will feature guest speaker Delma Rivera-Lytle. The program will begin at 10:30 a.m.

York County Civil War Round Table will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. Scott L. Mingus Sr. will present "Great Care Was Taken: The York, PA, U.S. Army Hospital in the Gettysburg Campaign."

A forum on "Perspectives on York 1969-2019" will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at Logos Academy, 250 W. King St., York. The forum will discuss the topic of medical care and explore hard histories.

The 45th anniversary Oyster Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, at the Agricultural and Industrial Museum, 217 W. Princess St., York. The event will feature food, beverages, entertainment, artisan demonstrations, and a showcase of local history.

ALLVETS will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Attendees will hear veterans speak and share their stories.
