Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Katrina Hook and Patrick Boyer were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club's Students of the Month for September.
Katrina is the daughter of John and Angelina Hook of Elizabethtown. Katrina is vice president of the Student Council, a peer tutor for middle school students, and a member of the Key Club and the National Honor Society. Katrina is captain of the cross-country team and a member of the track and field team and winter track club. She received the Coaches' Award in cross-country and the Bear Spirit Award in track and field. Katrina has earned academic excellence awards in her French II and Financial Investments classes, and she placed first in the 2019 National History Day in Pennsylvania Region 9 program. "Dispatches From Quarantine" published her writing in its 2021 student gallery and featured her on its NPR morning edition. Additionally, Katrina placed second in the Pennsylvania Council for Financial Literacy Budget Game Challenge. In the community, she has volunteered with the Healthy Kids Running Series and is a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ in Elizabethtown. She plans to attend college to major in business or communications and compete on the cross-country team.
Patrick is the son of Craig and Karen Boyer of Elizabethtown. He is a member of the National Honor Society; the concert, jazz, and marching bands; the orchestra; and the chorus. He is also active with the high school's theater program, and he is a member of the swim team and track and field team. In the community, Boyer is active in the Boy Scouts of America and has attained its highest rank, Eagle Scout. He is a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown. After graduation, Patrick plans to pursue a degree in music production.
