Horse Challenge Slated

All children ages 8 to 12 and their parents/guardians are invited to participate in the HighHOPES Miniature Horse Challenge at the EquiCentre for Growth and Learning, Grantville, on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to noon. The course is designed to promote healthy choices, effective communication skills, problem-solving and volunteerism using equine (horse)-assisted learning.

No horse experience is needed. Mini horses will be provided by the Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association (CATRA). Children will experience hands-on, fun activities while learning proper horse handling.

This program is offered free of charge, though freewill donations toward CATRA's equine therapy program will be accepted. To register, readers may visit http://www.catra.net/miniature-horse-challenge. Additional challenge dates in 2019 can be found on the calendar at http://www.catra.net.
