Hempfield United Methodist Church (HUMC), 3050 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, will once again host its annual Quiet Christmas Advent service on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. This year's theme is "Glory to God in the Highest."
This service, which is open to the public, is for anyone who would prefer a more low-key, meditative Christmas service, whether to honor the loss of a loved one or simply as a quiet time to reflect during the Advent season. Included in the service this year will be reflections from Scripture on the birth of Jesus, a wreath liturgy, candle lighting, piano and harp music, drums, a vocal solo, and Communion. The service will be led by Brenda Coffin, HUMC's minister of spiritual care and counseling.
