Hempfield United Methodist Church (HUMC), 3050 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, will offer its second annual contemplative retreat on Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"Behold Your Life: A Journey Towards Forgiveness" will be the topic. Brenda Coffin, HUMC's minister of spiritual care and counseling, will lead the retreat. Participants will learn about a contemplative style pathway to forgiving themselves and others. Topics will include the six R's of forgiveness, "cheap forgiveness" and what the Bible says about forgiveness.
Certified labyrinth facilitator Carmel Stabley will lead experiential labyrinth work ephasizing prayerfulness and intention. Marcy Fahnestock will lead a mindfulness healing experience featuring contemplative prayers and poems. Psychologist Jane Weierbach will lead the group in a contemplative forgiveness meditation, and Chip Coffin will provide background drum music.
