Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, 26 Owl Hill Road, Lititz, will welcome chalk artist Elva Hurst for a special event on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 9:15 a.m. Hurst will present a Chalk Talk on the history of hymns. The church conducts worship in the Lutheran tradition and sings both traditional and modern hymns.
Hurst is a teacher, artist, and presenter based in Lititz who shares the Christian Gospel through her art both in Lancaster County and around the world.
There is no cost to attend, although donations of personal care items will be accepted for the congregation's Little Free Pantry. Worship will follow the program.
The program will kick off another year of Christian education for people of all ages. The church offers two adult classes, as well as classes for other age groups, including confirmands and high-schoolers, during its Sunday school hour. Those looking to deepen their knowledge of Scripture and their relationship with God are invited to register for Sunday school during the program on Sept. 15.
The congregation is pastored by the Rev. Hans E. Becklin.
