Irish band Goitse will perform on Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m. at The Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster.
The multi-award-winning quintet was forged in Limerick's Irish World Academy. It was named Live Ireland's Group of the Year and Chicago Irish American News' Group of the Year, and it won the Freiburger International Leiter 2016 award in Germany. Goitse is recognized as a leader of the new generation of traditional Irish ensembles.
Goitse (pronounced "go-wit-cha") has released four recordings and maintains a year-round touring schedule that includes performances throughout Ireland and the U.K., Germany, France and the United States. Their own compositions are interspersed with traditional tunes from the countryside of Ireland and abroad. The group includes World and All-Ireland Bodhrán champion Colm Phelan on bodhrán, Conal O'Kane on guitar, and vocalist Áine McGeeney.
